Q&A with Taylor Sasser, owner of BASELINE: A Sasser Studio
If you want to shake up your fitness routine, look no further than BASELINE: A Sasser Studio, one of The Jasper’s newest tenants. The studio, opened in June 2022 by Taylor Sasser, offers personalized attention, effective workouts and upbeat energy in private and team training classes. We sat down with Taylor to learn more about BASELINE and what makes her approach so effective.
How did you get the idea for BASELINE?
I started BASELINE in 2020 when we were shut down on quarantine. I’ve been in group fitness for ten years and branched off during covid to lead some small classes and training sessions out of my garage. After a few short months of watching people I had trained for years start to see real changes (unlike they had in the past), I knew this type of personal training and personal experience was the way to go. BASELINE has grown to more than 200 loyal members in just two years! We’re very lucky to have the support of such amazing members and teammates.
What is a typical BASELINE class?
Never expect the same class twice—each class varies in equipment and structure. We rotate through a series of Strength, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Functional Mobility and deliberate cardio days. Trainers set monthly schedules incorporating body-part specific classes as well as private training sessions to maximize efficiency, target goals and enhance current routine for each member, regardless of their fitness level.
What is a typical class size? How many trainers per class?
Our Team Training Classes are 6:1 client to trainer ratio. We will never exceed more than six people per trainer each class.
How often do you recommend members attend classes?
We recommend attending Team Training Classes two to three times per week. Most of our clients couple three Team Training Classes with two Personal Training Sessions a week to focus more on specifics: stretching, recovery, corrective exercises etc.
What makes this such an effective workout?
We focus on the individual. Over my career, I’ve learned no two bodies are the same—we all respond differently to different workouts, routines, nutrition. BASELINE’s workouts and programs are made to fit you, not a large group of people like at other gyms. We focus on what exercises you respond to best and help you pair that with the right nutrition programs, educate you in the science behind your fitness in and out of the studio and focus on your recovery. This accelerates response and promotes sustainable fitness. We stress longevity over short-term fixes.
What is one piece of advice you would offer to someone interested in starting classes?
Don’t be intimidated! Gyms can be overwhelming, and personal training can seem daunting, but we’re here to lighten the mood and help you start from any fitness level. Whether it’s your first time working out or your 1000th time, there is always something new for us to learn.
What are you the proudest of the experience you’ve created at BASELINE?
I am the proudest of the culture that we’ve built. I love watching my team and our members grow in their fitness and personal journeys. Seeing each member progress reminds me why I love what I do so much and see it all with such great energy in such an amazing space seems unreal. We want to provide our members with a community that is welcoming and supportive of each other’s goals—and have a good time doing it!
Stop into BASELINE and welcome them to the neighborhood!
